How to Create and Upload Manage Packaged

Managed Packaged:

Managed are the ones where the Code is Hidden and Can be easily Upgraded or Pushed with new updates to the code.

Unmanaged Packaged:

Unmanaged Packages have the Code Visible and can be edited by the Org in which it has been Installed. Unmanaged Packages cannot be Upgraded or Pushed - they are like one time coded. (if a new version were released, you would need to uninstall and reinstall, which can be difficult once you have data). That is the reason, the unmanaged package is only used to share the metadata.

Create Managed Packaged:

Step 1: Go to Setup and find “Package Manager” and click on it.

If you find this, means you don’t have permission to create Manage Packaged. Then you need to Click the “Edit” button on Developer Settings.

Then you need to add namespace prefix which should be a unique name. So click on “Continue” button.

Then give a unique name and check availability. If the namespace is available then click on “Review My Selections” button. On this page click the “Save” button.

Now you can create manage package.

[ Note: You are only allowed one manage package per salesforce.com instance. You can not change this package back to the unmanaged package once you created it. ]

Step 2: Click the “New” button from the package section.

Then give a package name and select Managed on the selected box. Then click Save.

Step 3:

Then choose your desired app and then click the “Add To Package” button. Notice that several dependent components were added to the package. Then click to “Back to Packaged List”. Notice that by default a Managed - The beta package was created, just what we wanted.
